Volunteer Opportunities & Board of Directors

The HOA appreciates the many volunteers who contribute their time and efforts for the community's benefit. If you would like to volunteer for a committee or have a question for a committee or the Board of Directors, please email the onsite staff at manager@wellingtonhoa.net. Active committees include:

Amenities - works with the association staff and the Board to recommend policies, improvements and provide oversight of the pools,athletic club, playgrounds and courts.

Architectural Control (ACC) - the primary function of this committee is to assist the Board in regulating the external design appearance, use and maintenance of neighborhood homes. This committee's membership requires application to and approval by the Board of Directors.

Finance & Budget - works closely with the Board and management staff. Reviews the preliminary budget as well as financial reports and procedures.

Landscape - provides assistance in selecting seasonal color changes, contributes ideas for long and short term landscape improvements, and assists the management company in overseeing the landscape maintenance upkeep.


HOA Event volunteer opportunities include:

Charity Fun Walk & Fall Festival - Wellington's annual charity event benefiting Humane Tomorrow (Flower Mound's local Humane organization). Opportunities exist as an event sponsor or donor and volunteering for "day of walk" tasks. If interested, please contact the Fitness Director at 972-874-8329 or fitness@wellingtonhoa.net.

Basketball Sharp Shooting Contest - this contest is held annually and open to boys and girls ages 7-13. If interested in volunteering for this event, please contact the Fitness Director at 972-874-8329 or fitness@wellingtonhoa.net.


HOA Board of Directors:

Current members include: Steve Lyda, Sean May, Russel Schmidt, Sal Soriano and Mo Virani

Board purpose: A group of five (5) HOA members elected by the general membership to make policy and business decisions which are in the best interest of the association as a whole.

Preferred requirements:
    (1) Member in good standing (dues current or participating in an HOA approved payment plan).
    (2) Physically resides within the Wellington community during term of office.
    (3) Minimum six (6) months experience on a Wellington committee. Elected board members are encouraged to act as a liaison to one (1) committee (Amenities, Landscape, Architectural Control, Finance).
Term of Office: Each board member is elected to a term of two (2) years. Elections are held on a yearly basis at the annual meeting for two (2) or three (3) open board positions - depending on that year's staggered rotation. Terms are staggered to allow for a minimum of two (2) returning experienced members each year.

Meetings: The Board of Directors meet a minimum of five (5) scheduled times a year. Additional meetings are scheduled if needed. A typical meeting involves review and acceptance of the previous meeting minutes, review of the management report, discussion of specific action items (i.e. contracts, policy revisions, budgeting), and addressing specific resident requests.

Positions and Duties: Each year, the returning board members and the newly elected board members vote on which position each board member will fill. Article IX of the Bylaws defines the following board positions and duties.
    President - (i) presides at all meetings of the Board (ii) ensures that orders and resolutions of the Board are carried out (iii) signs all leases, mortgages, deeds and other written instruments; provided, however, that any duly authorized officer may sign checks and promissory notes (iv) perform other duties as may be required by the Board
    Vice President - (i) act in the place and stead of the President in the event of the President's absence, inability or refusal to act (ii) perform other duties as may be required by the Board
    Secretary - (i) record the votes and keep the minutes of all meetings and proceedings of the Board and of the Members (ii) keep the corporate seal of the Association and affix it on all papers requiring said seal (iii) serve notice of meetings of the Board and of the Members (iv) keep appropriate current records showing the Members of the Association together with their addresses (v) perform other duties as may be required by the Board
    Treasurer - (i) receive and deposit in appropriate bank accounts all monies of the Association (ii) disburse such funds as directed by resolution of the Board (iii) maintain the financial records of the Association (iv) perform other duties of a similar nature as may be required by the Board
    Note - The offices of President and Secretary may not be held by the same person.
