Balance Training 
Provided FREE to Wellington members by Cooper Aerobics and Cooper Wellness Strategies — for 2026 we are offering a new 10-week long program that will help to improve your balance. The class will include strengthening exercises for the feet, ankles, and legs, along with balance exercises to improve proprioception (your body's ability to sense its own position and movements). In addition to practicing balance in our twice-weekly class, you will also be given a set of quick balance exercises that you can and should do at home daily.
This program starts with a Cooper Quest™ balance assessment consisting of a few quick tests such as timing how long you can stand on one foot. This will give you a baseline so we know where you are starting from, and help us to know which exercises to start with. The class starts on Monday, January 5, 2026, and meets for 10 weeks on Monday and Thursday from 8:15 to 8:35 am, with the last class meeting on Thursday, March 12. Participants can also re-test at the end of the program to assess progress. Each session meets in the MPR under the supervision of the fitness director.
Balance is a learned skill, and we improve by practicing balance, the more often the better. Our goal in creating this program is to give you the tools to keep good balance for the rest of your life.
